Portland, OR – Bambu today announced the launch of a new line of home and lifestyle products manufactured entirely with cork fabric, according to Bambu president Jeff Delkin.
“Cork is the new bamboo – it’s a totally renewable resource,” Delkin said. “And it’s a natural addition to our range of sustainable home and lifestyle products.”
Bambu’s Cork Fabric Collection includes:
Adjust-A-Bowls in three sizes provide a design-smart and eco-wise stash for fruit, rolls, napkins and more. The sleek cork bowls can be folded or unfolded to accommodate any cargo, are water- and stain-resistant and machine-washable.
Cork Fabric Slim Wallet is made with handcrafted sustainable cork fabric that wears-in naturally and gets better with age and finished with a brushed-brass closure, it’s naturally water- and stain-resistant and wipes clean easily.
Urban Key Ring keeps keys together in one stylish clasp. Hardware is nautical-grade brushed brass, making it water- and stain-resistant.
Cork Fabric Placemats and Coasters accent a table setting with luxurious, sustainable cork. Hand-constructed and backed with black cotton and contrast stitching, they are water- and stain-resistant and machine-washable.
IPad Travel Case fits iPad, iPad 2 and other tablet computers. This is a luxurious, handcrafted, sustainable travel case. The soft cork fabric is lined with unbleached cotton, accented with coconut shell buttons, and finished with a waxed-cotton tie. Naturally water and wear resistant.
“We love things that get better with age,” Bambu creative director Rachel Speth said. “And the Cork Fabric Collection definitely falls into that category.”
Bambu’s Cork Fabric Collection is hand-stitched and animal-free. Cork fabric is dust-, dirt- and stain-repellent, and inherently anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic. Cork does not retain moisture and is therefore waterproof, weather proof, and washable.
Cork products are as durable as many leathers and are machine-washable, lightweight, soft and supple. Bambu cork products are EU and US CPSC-compliant, using no dyes, heavy metals, phthalates or PVC.
Bambu is also developing single-use napkins made entirely by bamboo. These disposable napkins will add an element of natural elegance to a table setting. These compostable napkins are another innovative product from bambu.
