  Through financial contributions and volunteer efforts, bambu supports Grameen Foundation which supports microfinance, commonly known as “banking for the poor.” Microfinance provides small loans, savings, and other financial services so poor people can launch businesses. • Third Millennium Alliance

  

  As members of the 1% For the Planet community since 2005, we’ve had the good fortune to support the work of many fine organizations doing great work to help preserve the natural environment.

  One in particular stands out. Third Millennium Alliance (www.3malliance.org) is an international nonprofit alliance of ecological engineers, conservationists, businesses, scientists, and communities working together to preserve the last remaining rainforest ecosystem in western Ecuador.   In a unique partnership, bambu has joined with Toyota in support of their latest line of hybrid cars, the Lexus Hybrid class of autos. The Toyota Company is one of the most admired socially responsible companies in any industry, and in the auto industry, their record and reputation is second to none.

  “We thought hard about this, the auto industry is a huge contributor to carbon emissions, but we applaud the efforts that The Toyota Company is making. They are out in front, making strides in changing the industry business model, ” says Jeff Delkin, owner and co-founder of bambu.
