China’s first Eco Design Fair in Shanghai
We’re thrilled about the upcoming Eco Fair in Shanghai this weekend.
Eco Design Fair - Sustainable design products in Shanghai: ”
Like everywhere else in the world, more and more people in Shanghai want a greener way of life. The Eco Design Fair Spring 2008 will be a groundbreaking event to raise awareness of environmental issues and to help make it easier for the public to make sustainable choices.
Taking place at China’s first carbon neutral hotel, the fair will be the only place in the city to see and buy well-designed, environmentally aware products in one place. Products for sale include organic clothing, home accessories, furniture, natural beauty products, stationary, toys, building materials, and organic food products. And of course, bambu!
Our cool architect friends at A00 the folks behind the URBN hotel and great sustainable furniture, and Sherry Poon of WoBaby are hosting the event. The Eco-Fair is the brainchild of Sherry, and we’re sure this is the first of more to come.
Both companies join bambu in a design collaboration to launch NEST, a new retail concept in Shanghai. Lots more on that big new idea soon.
Proceeds from the Eco Fair will be donated to Shanghai Roots & Shoots. The Eco Design Fair donations will be dedicated to buying voluntary carbon offsets in their tree planting program in Inner Mongolia.
While we cannot be there, bambu will be well represented by Trine Targett of NEST and Samantha Sun from bambu. Thanks folks. Have a fabulous day!

Rachael,
Do you remember me? I was the buyer for Whole Foods that brought Bambu products in to stores from Monterey to Canada, Colorado and Austin.
Checked the website this morning and here you are in Portland.
I actually am writing to get a catalogue as I am opening a cooking/art classroom and demo space in McMinnville. (yep, moved to PNW about 2 years ago)
I’ll have room for a limited amount of retail and want to make sure I have some Bambu.
Hope all is going well for you and that you have a great trip.
Best,
Donna Delzell

Hi,
I am toy designer from Santa Monica, CA — I am going out to Hong Kong soon to meet with suppliers for wooden toys. I happened upon your site as I was seeking info on suppliers/manufacturers that produce environmentally aware products - preferably in bamboo. Do you have any suggestions of reliable manufactures? What certifications should I look for to ensure that the products are made with the utmost care?
Thanks for you help,
Rosamaria Macias
